Remembering our Good Dog, REMY.

About

Who Is Remy?

Remy has been our family pet since Sept 26, 2015. She was adopted from the York County SPCA and has been an excellent doggie since the day we got her. On her first day with us, we traveled to Lancaster to buy a pair of dog crates, and she loved every minute of the journey! Remy is a bona fide traveling dog!

Over the years she had exhibited a calmness to her, even when around other dogs and animals. Until her last remaining days, Remy lived at our house in PA with a cat and had no issues co-inhabiting with her feline friend. Remy was a senior, and was a mother to many litters before we adopted her. We believe this was what contributed to her calmness around puppies and other dogs. The SPCA reported to us that she was abused, not physically, but in regard to breeding abuse in her younger years.

Since her adoption, she had become very comfortable with her home and spent most of her day lounging on the sofa and her bed. While we do have 2 full-sized crates for her, she did not like to be kept in them for long periods of time. She was taught her boundaries at the house when she first arrived, and she respected them pretty well, off-leash. We did, however, use a tether since we have a neighbor that does not like dogs.

GET TO KNOW REMY MORE!

Some of Remy’s favorite things to do, before her passing, included going for a ride in the car, it didn’t matter where, just anywhere on the road was one of her favorite places to go! Oftentimes, we found ourselves at Lake Redman, Lake Williams, and even Codorus Township Park to play some frisbee golf. She was a good dog on her leash, but she did like to smell and sniff just about anything…. for as long as you will allow her!! haha, I felt that she may have been a bloodhound in a past life!

Medical Background

Medical Background

Remy’s medical history wass pretty straightforward, with her PA Dog License being registered for her lifetime, and her vaccinations being brought up to the current date during my upcoming visit in Feb 2022.

On Jul 30, 2018, we had taken her to East York Vet and they told us that she may need surgery or pass away due to a growth in her stomach, however she has not had any issues and we feel it was a misdiagnosis related to something she had eaten. We have not taken her back to that location, as we feel they were just trying to make a sale. What was supposed to be a $70 visit, turned into a $700 visit, and they wanted to sell us a $5000 dollar surgery on top of it all.

Remy's Favorites

Remy's Favorites

Remy loved to lay on the sofa, or her bed while spending time with her humans. Her favorite toys were ropes from Target to play tug of war with, she also loved the dog bones we buy in bulk at our local grooming shop, Doggie Do’Little on Queen Street. Jason there orders them for me in bulk. Her favorite food was Hill’s Science Diet for 6+ Adults. And she enjoyed the occasional pizza crust or french fry. It’s one of her guilty pleasures!
